Pagpapatuloy ng power spot market ops ipinag-utos 

Ipinag-utos ng Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) ang pagpapatulo ng operasyon ng wholesale electricity spot market (WESM).
Ang WESM ay isang hub para sa trading ng kuryente sa Pilipinas.
Lahat ng energy transactions katulad ng demand at suplay ng kuryente, ay iniiskedyul sa pamamagitan nito.
Matatandaan na sinuspinde ng ERC ang WESM noong Marso 26 matapos ideklara ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang state of national energy emergency, at sinabing ang nagpapatuloy na tensyon sa Middle East ay nagbabanta ng “imminent danger… upon the availability and stability of the country’s energy supply.”
Ngunit nitong Biyernes, Mayo 1, ayon sa ERC, ang pagbabalik ng normal na operasyon ng WESM ay “the most suitable course of action” sa ngayon.
“This will allow electricity prices to more accurately mirror current market conditions while maintaining consumer protection safeguards,” sinabi ni ERC chairperson Francis Saturnino Juan.
Habang suspendido ang operasyon ng WESM, ipinatupad ng pamahalaan ang modified administered pricing mechanism.
“We observed that although the temporary pricing mechanism was effective in addressing the emergency, prolonging its use could lead to unintended charges in market settlements,” ani Juan.
